“My goal as a teacher is to help my students become fluent in the language of music. I want them to develop the skills that will give them the freedom to be able to learn any piece of music that speaks to them.”
Heather has recently completed a master's degree in voice performance at the University of Victoria and is pursuing a career in performance. She also holds a BMus in voice, and has completed her ARCT piano performance exam. Music has been a lifelong pursuit and she started lessons in voice and piano at an early age. After graduating with her BMus degree, she launched into a busy teaching career, giving lessons in voice, piano, theory, and early childhood classes.
Heather takes pride in helping her students through long-term commitment and by nurturing the trust between teacher and student. Her students frequently receive top marks on Royal Conservatory exams and perform confidently in recitals. As a teacher, she finds it most rewarding to see her students develop confidence and purpose through their musical training which benefits all areas of their lives. As a performer, she seeks to find meaningful emotional connection through music.
While opera holds the place closest to her heart, she loves to explore many genres, most recently taking an interest in experimental contemporary music. Her varied musical background is an asset in supporting her students through their own musical goals.Get started now
