Sofia Freundlich - Junior Teacher - Piano
“Music has always been an outlet for me-both listening and playing. Being able to sit down on the piano bench and play whatever is in my head and my heart has been such a privilege for me, and such a necessity for me to overcome challenges. I hope to be able to share that gift with my students.”
Sofia has been playing piano since she was 5 years old. She has her Grade 8 RCM certification, which she received with First Class Honours, and currently plays at Level 9 RCM. Additionally, she has completed South Island Studio's mentorship program, preparing young musicians to teach. She is currently studying classical piano at the Victoria Conservatory of Music through their Music Performance post-secondary program. She hopes to go on to complete a Bachelor of Music Education after graduating from the VCM in April 2027. She was awarded the Kathryn Le Gros Diploma in Music Performance Entrance Award for demonstrating the highest marks when auditioning for her post-secondary program.
She has experience playing solo piano pieces, duets, and self accompanying her own singing. She enjoys reading, learning new instruments and languages, and baking.
