Rebecca Clausen – Percussion Jam
“My goal is to inspire a lifelong love of music by creating meaningful musical experiences that are engaging, memorable, and fun. When inspiration, perseverance, and community come together, students discover they are capable of more than they ever imagined.”
Rebecca is a passionate music educator who loves helping children discover the joy of making music. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (2008) and a Bachelor of Education (2009) from the University of Victoria.
For more than 15 years, Rebecca has taught music in independent elementary schools both on and off Vancouver Island. She has also taught drama and musical theatre and conducted choirs for singers aged 5 to 18. Her teaching is informed by Kodály training (Level 1, 2022), and she designs engaging lessons that spark curiosity and creativity while helping students build confidence through making music together.
One of Rebecca’s most memorable teaching experiences was leading a group of students as they prepared to perform a challenging marimba piece they had worked hard to master. After sharing their performance with the school community, something remarkable happened: younger students began arriving at music class eager to learn the same piece. Before long, they were playing it too. For Rebecca, moments like these capture the power of music education.
