Special Needs Music Education at South Island Studio
These adapted music lessons are individually tailored for children and youth with special needs or disabilities who are not able to fully benefit from traditional music lessons. Through working with an accredited trained music therapist, students will partake in enjoyable and successful musical education toward their musical goals, which can include the achievement of extra-musical IEP aims as well, based on each individual's unique learning style and needs. Special needs populations that will benefit from these adapted music lessons include: Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ODD, vocal ticks, FASD, seizure disorder, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, hypotonia, Spina bifida, hydrocephalus, chronic lung disease, spinal fusion, physical or cognitive developmental delay, cerebral palsy, asthma, chronic lung disease, spastic quadraplegia or febrile seizures. Feel free to contact Joel about potential third party funding for these lessons.
